EMPLOYMENT OPPORITUNITY

MICHIPICOTEN FIRST NATION

(Part-Time Position)

POSITION:       Custodian

OVERVIEW:    Under general supervision and guidance from the Michipicoten First Nation Public Works Coordinator; the Custodian will ensure the following job duties:

  • Sweep floors using dust control system of treated dust mops; wash and rinse floors and vacuum all Band buildings.
  • Thoroughly cleans all washroom fixtures with germicidal cleaner; wipes down bathroom paritions in all Band buildings.
  • Empties and cleans all waste receptacles and removes waste to the appropriate dumpsters.
  • Clean glass doors/windows as needed.
  • Dust/wipes horizontal surfaces of furniture and business equipment.
  • Wipes down window ledges, railings, fingerprints off doors and/or painted surfaces and wipes baseboards.
  • Cleans stoves, fridges, microwaves and disposes of leftovers. Wash and rinse all dishes found throughout the buildings.
  • Keeps inventory of cleaning supplies and orders as required.
  • Wash dish cloths, tea towels and table cloths as required.
  • Occasional washing of walls within normal reach when required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Class ‘G’ Drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle is an asset. Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, products and equipment; knowledge of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information system/WHIMS; ability to read and understand labels and instructions.

SALARY: $12.00 per hour for 4 hours per day
