Start Building – Cardboard Box Races

It’s time to start building again. The Annual Wawa Winter Carnival ‘Cardboard Box Races’ will be held Monday, February 19th, 2018 at Queen’s Park in Wawa. Registration begins at 1:30 p.m. until the race starts at 2 p.m.

 

The Carnival theme this year is “All Things Canadian”. Prizes to be awarded to the Biggest, Fastest, Farthest, Most Creative and Best Crash!

ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST WEAR HELMETS AND SIGN A PARTICIPANT WAIVER

• The event is open and free for all ages

• Boxes must be constructed mainly of cardboard

• Accepted items: duct tape, tin foil, garbage bags, shower curtains, string

• Unacceptable items: wood, aluminum, plastic, steel, fibreglass etc.

• A TRADITIONAL SLED MAY NOT BE USED AS BASE

• Push-off at Start by non-rider is permitted

• No limit on number of passengers or size of box

• Participants are asked to remove boxes/remnants at finish of race

• Each entry will run individually against the clock. The clock will stop when the entire entry, including riders, cross the finish line
